DOUGLAS CUP 2016

2016 Douglas Cup was the largest ever with 108 members playing. The Woman’s Douglas Cup and a record 28 players. The event held by members for members to bring the golfing members of Parkland Golf and Country Club together for 2 fun-filled days and evenings. We thank all of you that have taken the time to write and to stop us at the club to tell us how much you enjoyed the event. That is what makes it all worthwhile.

The event were won by: Men’s Event Men’s White Team won, Captained by Jeff Douglas, The Blue Team Paid for the Players on the white team.

“The 2016 Douglas Cup was the 6sth event over the last twelve years. It has been 12 years of tradition for the Golf Members of PGCC. As one of the club’s largest events, it has been a time where close friends get closer and new friends are made. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to be more involved as a Team Captain in 2016 and will always participate in this event as a player or as a supporter. The Event is special due to of all of the folks that give of themselves to make it happen, but mostly because of the vision that Jeff and Linda Douglas created for this event 12 years ago. This vision includes all of the components of a great event. Camaraderie, competition, fun, food and great attention to detail. Thank You Jeff and Linda!”

“The 2016 Douglas Cup was attended by 108 golfers and 212 for the party. Linda and I were thrilled that everything worked out perfectly and we hope everyone had a great time. We are grateful to have this opportunity to bring members together in an event that allows everyone to discover your neighbors. I want to personally thank Rob Senatore, Lisa Stefans and Loretta Chatoff for their efforts to make this event possible. As Team Captain of the winning white team I want to thank all of my team members. But this event is not about just golf it is friendships that will last a lifetime. “I had the privilege of being the captain of the white team in the 2016 Douglas Cup. Lisa Stefans was the captain of the blue team. We had so much fun together planning for this event. We had a great turn out of ladies. All of the ladies really enjoyed the day. There was such a feeling of excitement in the air. Lisa and I did our best to mix the group up so the ladies could play with people they had not played with previously. All in all, everyone had a great time and new friendships were made! ” I had the privilege to be the Captain of the Blue team for the 2016 Douglas Cup along side Loretta Chatoff who was the Captain of the the White team. This tournament was a great experience for all the ladies who played. Loretta and I worked together to include ladies that golf regularly along with ladies that may have not played as often but after this tournament now play on a regular basis. The tournament is about camaraderie, teamwork and fun competition that results in new lasting friendships and regular golfing for all. Thanks to Linda and Jeff Douglas for hosting this great event!! Dinner Dance

The Friday night dinner dance was the highlight of the 2 day affair. By bringing 128 golfers and their spouses together for food, drink, dancing and socializing. The evening began with grand entrance where all couples were photographed. Linda Douglas crafted decorations and a menu with the Chef to satisfy all, with hors de oeuvres 6-7:30 Food stations at 7:30 and Dessert stations 9:00. Trophy presentations at 9:30 to the Ladies and the Men’s teams. Music played for your dancing pleasure all night long!
